The constantly increasing number of TV stations, commersial agencies, modeling agencies, fashion magazines and the surge of the Internet, keep increasing the total amount of work opportunities for makeup artists.

As a makeup artist, you can work worldwide.

Your every day work may consist of creating characters for e.g. film and music videos. It may also consist of realizing your clients’ vision - artistically as well as technically - for fashion spreads or advertising campaigns. You will work with all kinds of people – models, celebrities, and, of course, “normal” people. Excellent social skills are therefore of the essence. You must be a team player; flexible and adaptable to new situations. Many believe that this profession is all about glamour. Naturally, it’s wonderful to see the result of your hard work on the cover of a magazine, or your name rolling by in the credits of a movie. But behind it lies a lot of hard work and sometimes long working hours. In other words: it’s a business where trends are created – you must work hard to succeed.

Working as a professional makeup artist is a great challenge.

The pace is intense, and you must always find creative solutions and stay ahead of the competition. Using your technical and artistic skills, you must transform faces and bodies so that the photographer and the stylist can achieve their goal for the shoot. The project can be anything from a basic daytime make up to an edgy catwalk look. Equally important is the constant effort to increase your social network.

No school can guarantee jobs, its’ all up to the students.

Jobs are normally not posted through employment agencies, but rather through agents and modeling agencies. You may also choose to work as a freelancer.
